Sujan Sen Gupta is a communication researcher working in the area of Human–Machine Communication, with a focus on human–AI communication. His research examines how people cognitively process, evaluate, and trust AI-generated communication in digital information environments. Methodologically, he is interested in mixed-methods approaches that allow him to examine both the social and cognitive dynamics of human–AI collaboration in high-stakes communication environments.

Before joining Colorado State University (CSU), Sujan worked as a sub-editor at The Business Standard, a leading daily newspaper in Bangladesh, where he edited and produced digital news content. His more than three years of newsroom experience continues to inform his research interests in how emerging technologies reshape journalistic practice and information production. He has also worked as a freelance writer, with work featured in publications such as Roar Bangla and other digital outlets.

At The Business Standard, Sujan edited and translated news content and introduced the use of generative AI prompting to streamline editing and translation workflows, tools that were later adopted widely across his team. He eventually served as a team lead, supervising sub-editors and managing the section’s content and publication. He also worked as a Local Media Hub Fellow at DW Akademie Asia, where he engaged with regional media development initiatives and journalism training programs.

Sujan earned his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Dhaka, where he began his professional career during his junior year.

As a graduate teaching assistant at CSU, he helps teach JTC 100: Media in Society.
