Laura’s journalism degree and research experiences in her undergraduate program in Brazil sparked her excitement to continue for her Master’s. During undergrad, she studied documentary films using Discourse Analysis to identify possible patterns and influences of colonization speech in productions about the environment.

In a different study, she explored misinformation about COVID-19, working to investigate how fake news could have affected the attitudes of the Brazilian population towards the pandemic. Later, in her bachelor dissertation, she focused on studying misinformation specifically about COVID-19 vaccination and the aspects around it. Laura is interested in researching more on these topics, and she has an inclination to explore their risk communication dimensions.
