Jake Sherlock is an instructor in the JMC Department and the student media adviser for Rocky Mountain Student Media Corporation, where he helps the journalists of the Collegian, College Avenue and CTV produce important news, sports and entertainment content for campus. He primarily teaches JTC 100 Intro to Society, JTC 210 Newswriting, JTC 320A General Reporting and JTC 411 Media Ethics.

Sherlock's career began as a sportswriter at his hometown newspaper and has eventually led to his position at Colorado State. Along the way, he has worked as a page designer, a copy editor, a reporter, an opinion editor, a design director, a news editor, a marketing and public relations director, a web designer, and as a college instructor and media adviser. He has taught for the University of Missouri, the University of Wyoming, Pikes Peak State College and Laramie County Community College.

In 2023, Sherlock was named Distinguished Adviser by the College Media Association.
