Biography

Emily Beyer is a master’s student and graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Journalism and Media Communication, where she focuses on science communication. Her research interests broadly center on strategic environmental communication, public engagement, and audience interpretation and response. More specifically, she is interested in how message framing and other persuasive strategies can be tailored to better engage audiences and motivate pro-environmental behavior change.

Emily earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts and a certificate in Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Before graduate school, she spent over four years working in marketing and communications across a variety of industries. She currently writes outreach content translating agricultural research for stakeholders in Michigan State University’s Long-Term Agroecosystem Research program.
