Libbie Pepple is a master’s student in Journalism and Media Communication at Colorado State University, where she focuses on scientific, health, and environmental communication. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with a concentration in health communication from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Her research focus explores the communication networks and language utilized in responding to toxicological and radiological health threats. She is especially interested in the role health communication plays in space medicine, which relies on complex networks of human and automated systems in the exchange of health and environmental data between Earth and low Earth orbit.
Libbie’s background spans science education, toxicological assessment, environmental management, and health communication. Through these experiences, she developed an interest in how institutions manage chemical and radiological hazards as well as how people understand, define, and navigate their health while living and working in high-risk environments.
