Biography

Tasnuva Tazin (Eva) was born in Chattogram, Bangladesh, a tourist destination for people from other cities. With an explorer’s mind, Eva also wanted to travel. After high school, she moved to the capital, Dhaka, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Journalism and Media Studies from Jahangirnagar University. Feminist communication theories fascinated her during her studies at JU. Her favorite ones are Genderlect Theory and Muted Group Theory. She did a study on Impacts of Absenteeism During Menstruation using Muted Group theory.

Eva had the opportunity to explore different professional fields before coming back to school. She began working as a Bengali interpreter during her undergrad and since then has worked with different organizations like the US Embassy, Canadian High Commission, World Bank, Interpol and so on. Being an interpreter allowed her to witness different intercultural communication styles. She later held different roles in organizations such as Dhaka Tribune, Forewarn Bangladesh, and Teach For Bangladesh. The last job Eva had before coming to CSU was teaching middle school students. Therefore, she might tend to treat the undergrad students as her kids while working as a TA. Among everything she has tried, teaching always attracted Eva more than anything else. Even when she was working as an interpreter, she enjoyed it for its nature of being similar to teaching.

Eva is also interested in film making. Her short film Unparalleled got selected at VisComm 40 in 2026.
