Description
The College of Liberal Arts Dean’s Office is seeking a dynamic and creative student to support the communications team with social media, photography, and other digital marketing needs. The Social Media Assistant position offers a student hands-on experience creating content and driving strategy for an organization’s social media, ideal for students interested in careers in marketing, communications, or related fields.
The position reports to the Assistant Director of Communications and will work collaboratively with Dean’s Office staff and department communicators. Applicants must be able to work 10-15 hours a week in the office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday – Friday. Occasional nights may be requested depending on events and the dean’s schedule.
SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT
- Assist in creating, scheduling, and publishing content for the College of Liberal Arts social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Assist in the management of the College of Liberal Arts Dean’s Instagram account
- Engage with followers by responding to comments and messages in a timely manner
- Monitor social media performance through regular analytics reporting
- Track trends across social media platforms and propose new content ideas
CONTENT CREATION
- Capture and edit photos and videos at events or for general marketing purposes
- Design graphics that adhere to CSU brand standards for social media using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
- Assist with other digital communications projects as needed
Required Qualifications
- Current CSU student
- Understanding of social media platforms and digital communications trends
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic photography and video editing skills
- Ability to work collaboratively or independently
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments, set priorities, and meet short deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of social media analytics
- Familiarity with graphic design tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
- Previous experience managing or contributing to an organization’s social media channels
