Description

Job Responsibilities

Strategic social media management, including tracking metrics and using analytics to improve effectiveness and drive strategy; social listening; and coordinating with departmental social media managers. DP

Assist in managing editorial calendar and day-to-day execution of strategic communications. IT

Content curation and copywriting for multiple social media channels. C/PS

Work collaboratively, as well as independently, with CAS communicators and stakeholders on projects. TW

Align tasks and complete projects while adhering to deadlines and maintaining file organization. PA

Develop and implement digital written and visual content (e.g., photography, videography, graphic design, etc.) that promotes college and department events, awards, research, profiles and other news and in support of recruitment efforts. C/DP

Manage real-time social media coverage for special events such as Ag Day. C/DP

Participate in CSU Social’s student social media committee. CD

Uphold CAS’s mission, vision, and values, and the CSU Principles of Community PA/GC

Ensure that the CAS brand is communicated consistently and appropriately on social and digital channels. CT/DP

Required Qualifications

The successful applicant will be a currently enrolled CSU student and will demonstrate the following characteristics:

Ability to apply critical thinking to solve problems. CT/PS

Strong attention to detail. PA

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. V/WC

Strong knowledge of various social media platforms. DP

Interest in science storytelling (distilling scientific and technical information into accurate, complete, clear and compelling stories for lay audiences). CT/C

Commitment to uphold the university’s Principles of Community. PA/GC

Willingness and ability to use their own equipment to create and edit digital content.

Preferred Qualifications

Majoring in journalism, communications, or related field.

Experience using a social media management platform such as Publer or Hootsuite. DP

Experience using Adobe Creative Suite. DP

Proficiency in digital content creation including photography and graphic design. DP

Experience researching, writing and editing stories. WC/C

An understanding of AP style guidelines. WC

Interest in agriculture
