Through their involvement in student organizations, nationally recognized clubs and chapters, and education abroad, JMC students are not only building a resume, but also learning to tell their story. Additionally, the department offers support resources for students, including a large first-generation community and department specific scholarships.

First Generation Students
First generation students can find great support from the first gen community at CSU and within the department. Many of our faculty and staff are first generation and welcome the opportunity to work with students from all backgrounds. Learn more about campus first-generation resources
Scholarships
The JMC department offers a variety of scholarships to qualified JMC majors. Scholarships are awarded through the CSU Scholarship Application (CSUSA), which is available online October 1 through March 1. Find up-to-date JMC scholarship information on the College of Liberal Arts scholarship webpage.
Education Abroad
Students in journalism and media communication have many options to study abroad while completing their degree, including faculty-led programs and interdisciplinary semesters. Students interested in education abroad opportunities are encouraged to talk to their Academic Advisor to help fit the experience into their degree roadmap.
