Student Experience

At CSU, journalism and media communication students can build leadership skills, professional networks, and lasting community through a wide range of student-run organizations and department groups.

Through student-run media, professional organizations, campus productions, internships, and education abroad, you’ll discover the kind of storyteller, communicator, or creator you want to become while developing the practical skills and confidence to launch a career.

Student Organizations & Community

Internships

Internships give students the chance to apply classroom learning in real, professional settings. Journalism and media communication students have interned with news organizations, TV stations, production companies, public relations and advertising agencies, and corporate media relations departments, gaining industry insight and connections and building experience that translates directly into careers after graduation.

Events & Opportunities

Throughout the year, journalism and media communication students can connect with faculty, alumni, and fellow students through department celebrations, guest speakers, and other engagement opportunities. Signature events like Clarkchella, an annual celebration of journalism and media communication, bring the department together to recognize student work and build community outside the classroom.
