Biography

Sarah Pooler is an alumna of the Department of Journalism and Media Communication who brought her love for television reporting back to CSU in 2008 as an adjunct instructor. Her professional career includes almost twenty years  working as a television news reporter/anchor and corporate public relations executive.

She honed her television reporting, writing and producing skills at television stations in Salisbury MD, Chattanooga and Salt Lake City, before finishing her career at top NBC affiliate KSDK in St. Louis.  She then transitioned to public relations as a chief media officer, reputation architect, and director of strategic media relations at powerhouse Weber Shandwick and internet startup Influence, LLC.  There, she specialized in creating and producing public relations campaigns, corporate communications, media relations, crisis communications and multimedia production.

She prides herself on being a results driven instructor who combines a zeal for learning with critical and applicable real world experience, creating an engaging, productive, professionally successful educational experience for students. Pooler teaches television news reporting, writing and producing as well as a television talent development workshop. She also teaches PR courses and is a faculty liaison with Campus Television. She has also served as the JMC Graduate Program coordinator.
