Heather Young has lived and worked in the Fort Collins area since 2006. After receiving a B.S. in Environmental Communication from Colorado State University in 2010, she has worked in the field of environmental education and communication, most recently with Larimer County Department of Natural Resources. She works to connect community members to the outdoors through education and outreach. Given her passion for connecting people to nature, Heather hopes to integrate her professional interests into her research as a Master’s student in Public Communication and Technology. She is currently working on a community outreach project in Northwest Fort Collins to connect local students to the outdoors through programming, infrastructure and career opportunities. Heather hopes to integrate this project into her Master’s work, identifying gaps, barriers and solutions to connecting this community to the natural world. Outside of her professional and academic pursuits, Heather enjoys backpacking, trail running and yoga.
