Jamie Folsom has devoted most of her professional life to education, public health and journalism, particularly working with individuals and organizations in indigenous communities across the country. She is a second year PhD student, whose research interests take her to the heart of these three disciplines. The essential question she asks is, “Who is telling our stories?” Her research interests include seeking the answer to this question through examination of Indigenous North Americans as journalists and as creators of popular culture.
Jamie is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, the Native American Journalists Association, The American Indigenous Research Association, and is a journalism instructor in the department.
